Who is Goddess Chamundeshwari?
Sri Chamundeshwari is a powerful form of Durga or Shakti, believed to have vanquished the demons Mahishasura and Chanda-Munda. Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Chamundi Hills is a revered Shakti Peetha, drawing thousands of devotees every month.
She is the Kula Devata or the family deity of the royal family of the Wodeyars, that ruled Mysuru kingdom for many centuries and also played a key role in the temple's legacy.

The Panchamrita Abhisheka, using milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar, is performed in public view, followed by Kunkumarchana and Deepa Aradhana.

The City Police have issued traffic and safety guidelines for devotees visiting Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill. According to a press release from the Public Relations Officer, City Police Commissioner’s Office, Mysuru, the following measures will be in place to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety: Movement of all types of vehicles to Chamundi Hill is banned from 10 pm on Thursdays to 11 pm on Sundays during the Ashadha month.
Fridays of Shravan Maas are also a very good auspicious occasion to visit the temple for Sri Chamundeshwari Darshan.
Navratri days of Ashvayuja present the grandeur of Goddess in different Alankaram on the nine days during the world famous Mysore Dussehra.

Annadana (community feast) is offered to all devotees visiting the temple.
Pilgrims from across Karnataka and neighboring states climb the 1,008 steps leading to the hilltop to have darshan of the Goddess.
